A customer asked me to bind a book with pages from three different paper mills
This happened last month at my shop in Portland. A man brought in a stack of sheets from Crane, Hahnemuhle, and some handmade stuff from a local mill. He wanted them all in one hardcover journal. I told him the different expansion rates would likely cause warping. He just said, 'I like the feel of the fight.' Has anyone else bound a book with that much paper variety? How did you handle the tension?

The feel of the fight" sounds like a pretentious way to get a wobbly book.

My buddy actually said that once after a bar fight, then his book fell off the shelf and broke his toe.

Remember that time I tried to shove a wobbly bookcase back against the wall? I just used some old cardboard to fold up and stick under the leg. It's not pretty but it hasn't moved since, and my toes are safe. Maybe your buddy needs a quick fix like that before his whole library takes revenge.
