The absolute chaos when 7 of us read different editions of the same book for book club last Tuesday

We spent 45 minutes arguing over page 273 before someone realized my paperback had a whole subplot missing that the hardcover included. Has anyone else had edition wars derail their whole meeting?

Wait which book was it though? I gotta know what subplot got cut because that sounds wild. Maybe it was one of those cases where the editor made the paperback shorter for cost reasons and just hacked out whole chapters. Did the hardcover people claim their version was the "real" book the whole time? That tension alone probably killed the vibe for the rest of the night.
