That comment about my chapter breaks being too abrupt really stuck with me
My book club said my scenes ended too fast with no breathing room, so I tried adding half page transitions between tense moments. Has anyone else gotten feedback that forced you to totally rework your writing style?

Got that note once. Took me months to stop fighting it and just try.

Fighting it" is exactly right. I spent a good three months telling myself I was just going to "try harder" at the old way before I finally gave in and did the thing everyone was telling me. It was like banging my head against a wall every single day until I just stopped and tried the simple version. Looking back, I can't believe I wasted all that time being stubborn. What finally made you stop fighting it?
