Our book club's voting system fell apart over the new pick
We tried a ranked choice vote for our next book, using a free online tool. Half the group couldn't figure out the link, and two people just typed their top choice in the chat anyway. The organizer had to manually count 12 different lists in a Google Doc. It took an hour to get a result, and three people are still mad about it. Has anyone found a simple, foolproof way to vote on books that actually works for everyone?

That ranked choice mess sounds exactly like my old hiking group trying to pick a trail. When you say the organizer had to count 12 lists, were those all different formats? Like some people wrote "1. Book Title" and others just pasted a link? I'm wondering if the problem was the tool or just that people didn't read the instructions at all.

My friend's knitting group had the same problem. They just switched to a simple poll with three options, and people can only vote for one. Way less drama.

Try a simple poll first, like tara623 said, since david_mason57 is right about people skipping instructions.
