My book club hated the ending of 'The Goldfinch' but I actually liked it

Everyone in my group last Tuesday said the final section in Amsterdam felt rushed and pointless. I went back and read those last 50 pages alone, and the chaotic mess of it made Theo's whole journey click for me. Has anyone else had a book club pick where you were the only one who defended a controversial part?

That Amsterdam part was a total mess though.

Oh man, I actually liked it at first! But you're right, the more I watched, the more it fell apart. That whole bit with the vase just being a key to a locker felt so lazy. They really didn't think it through.

Ugh, tell me about it. What was with that whole chase scene through the canals? It felt so rushed and the bad guy's plan made zero sense. Like, they just forgot to explain why he needed that specific vase. Total mess, lol.
