Just hit 50 books with my local club and the last one caused a huge fight

We finished our 50th book pick last night, which was 'The Midnight Library'. I thought it was a cool idea, but our meeting turned into a two-hour argument about the main character's choices. Sarah from the group said the ending was a 'cop-out' and got really loud about it. Honestly, I was just happy we made it to 50 meetings without anyone quitting. Has your club ever had a debate that almost broke up the whole group?

Oh man, "two-hour argument" sounds about right for that book. My group read it last year and we had the same split. What finally calmed things down was when our host made everyone pick their favorite alternate life from the book and explain why. It shifted the talk from fighting about the ending to just sharing what we liked. We still disagreed, but it got us laughing instead of yelling.
