Had a terrible book club meeting last Tuesday that made me rethink everything

Three people showed up and two of them hadn't read the book, so we spent an hour arguing about whether the main character was even likable. Has anyone else had a club meeting go completely off the rails like that?

Wait, you had people show up who didn't even bother reading the book? That's brutal. My old book club fell apart because one girl kept picking books nobody wanted to read, and we spent half the meetings just complaining about her choices. Then the host got mad we weren't being "constructive" and stopped inviting us. Honestly sounds like your club needs a book or a whole new lineup of people who actually show up prepared.
