Why does nobody talk about the shift from firebox to membrane wall boilers?

I've been on jobs where the old firebox boilers took twice the tube time compared to membrane walls but I swear the welds held up longer, what's your experience on which design saves more headache over a 10 year span?

Ever had to chase a leak on a firebox after a few years of cycling? In my experience, those membrane walls cut downtime way down even if the welds don't look as pretty.

@adam_lewis pretty welds don't stop leaks, membrane walls do.
