Why does nobody talk about how fast an oxygen hose can fail

Last month on a job in Gary, Indiana, my buddy's O2 hose blew out right as he was lighting a cutting torch and the flashback almost took his eyebrows off, has anyone else seen these things give out this sudden or is it just cheap gear from the supply house?

Can't believe you're just bringing this up now, man. I had a hose snap on me last year in a cramped basement and the flashback wave actually lit my glove on fire. My whole hand was smoking before I could even react. How bad was the scarring on your buddy's eyebrows?
