Vent: Stopped using wire brushes on weld prep after a job at Marathon in Gary went south
Used to swear by wire brushes for cleaning scale off plate. Then I got flagged on a hydro test failure at Marathon refinery in Gary back in 2019. The brush was leaving microscopic grooves that trapped moisture. Switched to flap discs for all prep work now. Anyone else had a weld fail from something as simple as prep tools?

Little shortcuts always come back to bite you later" - man, that hits home. I once had a batch of clamps leave tiny divots on some stainless tubing, and the customer found stress cracks months later. It's ALWAYS the small stuff that gets you.
