Led Zeppelin vs. flip-top hoods on 2-inch steam lines

I used to just toss a flip-top hood on for every overhead root pass, but this job in Gary got me thinking about my angles. Switched to 6010 with a leading angle on some 2-inch steam lines and the bead laid in way smoother, no digging or undercut. The flip-top was fine for flat work but you cant see the puddle as good when youre reaching over your head. I ended up running the whole header with the leading angle and saved about 25 minutes of grinding. Anyone else ditch one style for the other on tight overhead spots or is it just me?
