Why does nobody talk about how boring Terraforming Mars can get

I played Terraforming Mars 8 times this month because everyone online swears it's the greatest thing ever. After game 3 I started noticing the same patterns keep showing up, the same cards feel mandatory, and the whole thing drags past 2 hours every time. I tried rushing the endgame and it just felt like I was skipping half the fun everyone else seems to have. Has anyone else found this game gets stale fast, or am I missing something obvious?

Same cycle plays out at my job, just swap space cards for bad weather and traffic jams.

Got eight plays in myself" though? I mean, come on, you played the same game eight times before you noticed? That's on you, not the game, bud. @the_paul, traffic jams are a thing you can't control, but space cards? You literally see the same ones coming back around. I've seen people sink 50 hours into worse games than that and still have a good time. Maybe the problem isn't the game being shallow, it's just that you burned through it like a bag of chips in one sitting.

Got eight plays in myself before I realized I was just playing the same game of "who draws the best space cards first" over and over. Guess my strategy skills peaked around game four.
