Why does my copy of Settlers of Catan always miss a piece?
I bought a brand new copy of Settlers of Catan from my local game shop in Portland and when I opened it, the orange settlement was missing. I spent like 45 minutes tearing through my apartment looking for it before I realized the box just came that way. Has anyone else ever gotten a game with a missing piece straight out of the shrink wrap?

And here I thought it was just me having bad luck with everything new these days. It's like the whole world stopped caring about quality control. I got a package of socks last week where one sock was literally half the size of the other, and the grocery store produce is always bruised or moldy on the bottom. Nobody checks anything before it goes out. Your missing settlement is just another sign that companies rush everything and expect us to do the work of inspecting their products for them.

Oh totally @jennys72, what worked for me was sending a photo of the messed up socks to the company and they sent a free replacement.
