TIL the 'board game geek' who owns 400 games usually plays like 12 of them
I started logging every play in a $2 notebook back in January and the numbers are brutal. Out of my 63 games, I touched 9 of them more than twice all year, and 4 of those were just because my group meets on Thursdays and nobody wants to teach rules after work. The rest just sit there looking pretty on the shelf while I keep telling myself I'll get to them. Meanwhile a guy in my group with 11 total games has played all 11 at least 8 times each, and he wins way more often because he actually knows his stuff. Buying games is a hobby, playing games is a different hobby, and most of us pretend they're the same thing. So what's your real number, how many of your games have you played more than 3 times?
63 games and only 9 got played more than twice? That math is wild to me. I've got 40 something and I figured I was bad but at least like 15 get regular table time. The part that gets me is the guy with 11 games who wins more. Knowing your stuff beats owning stuff every single time and that hurts to admit.
