The time my Catan game got ruined by a spilled drink

Last Friday at a friend's house in Denver, someone knocked over a whole glass of red soda right on the board. The cards got soaked and the hex tiles started to warp. I grabbed paper towels and laid everything out flat on a radiator for 2 hours. The tiles dried okay but a few resource cards stuck together and tore. Has anyone else tried to save a game after a spill like this?

and honestly that's just how it goes sometimes with board games isn't it. you spend all that time setting up and one little accident wipes out half the work. it reminds me of how some people treat their cars - they let one small spill sit and before you know it the whole interior has that weird sticky smell. but with games you can usually save most of it if you act fast like you did with the towels and radiator. the torn cards are a bummer but at least you can still play if you remember what they said or just write it on a sticky note.

Wait wait wait, you're saying people let spills sit in their cars until it smells? That's disgusting. I would lose my mind if my car had that weird sticky smell, that's something you fix right away not just let it go.

@linda500 you've got a point about acting fast, and I used to think a quick wipe was enough but this changed my mind after my own Catan spill. @emmaj33, to your point about the car smell, I think picking up damp resource cards within minutes really saved my game from that sticky fate.
