That time a power gamer ruined a 3 year campaign in one session
Last Saturday at my local shop in Denver, a guy I've played with for 3 years decided to min-max his character against the party's wishes. He ended up soloing the boss in 2 turns and left the rest of us sitting there with nothing to do. Has anyone else had a player completely kill the fun like that?

I played in a 4 year campaign in Austin where one guy showed up with a "technically legal" character that was just broken beyond belief. After he one-shot the final boss of a dungeon, we just had the DM talk to him privately and agree to rebuild his character with a Simple limit like no multiclassing or banned spells. It fixed the problem TOTALLY and we still play together every other week.

Technically legal" just means you found loopholes, not a fair build.

Used to be in the same boat, thought loophole builds were just people gaming the system. But hearing that story about the guy rebuilding his character and the group actually fixing it together makes me rethink that.
