That guy who narrated his own moves at open gaming night

Last Tuesday at the Back Room Cafe in Portland, this older fellow sat down across from me while I was setting up Patchwork. He didn't ask to play, he just started narrating every single tile I placed in a low mumble, like "ah, she's grabbing the 5x2, good for the corners." I looked up after 10 minutes and realized he wasn't watching my game at all, he was practicing for a podcast he wanted to make about strategy mistakes. We ended up chatting for an hour and he showed me a whole notebook of recorded plays from 40 sessions, anyone else ever had a random spectator turn into a coaching session?
