Switching from round-based turns to simultaneous picks changed our game nights
For like 5 years we ran every drafting game the same way, everyone takes turns picking one card then passing. Last month a buddy in Seattle suggested trying simultaneous selection with hidden tokens, and it cut our downtime by half. Now games like sushi go and 7 wonders feel way snappier, and people actually pay attention instead of zoning out. Has anyone else made this switch and how did your group handle the first few chaotic rounds?

Tried this once with a group and it backfired hard because half the folks picked the same cards and the other half just stared at their phones... we ended up adding a rule where you had to snap your fingers before locking in your pick, which turned it into a weird rhythm game but honestly that chaos is kind of memorable now.
