Serious question, has anyone else had a game night ruined by one person's rules talk?
My friend Mark from our group in Austin said my teaching of 'Scythe' was too long and killed the mood before we even started. He was right, I was going on for 45 minutes! Now I just do a quick 10 minute overview and teach the rest as we play. How do you handle teaching heavy games without losing people's interest?

Just demo a round with open cards first.

Actually prefer to start with the rules. Seeing the whole game with open cards just makes it look more confusing than it is.

Try teaching the core loop first, then add rules as situations come up during play.
