Realized I was teaching rule interpretations wrong after 4 games of root

I kept telling new players the vagabond could move and attack in any order, but my buddy finally looked it up and showed me the rulebook order is fixed. Now I double check every faction's sequence before I open my mouth, anyone else been the confident wrong one at the table?

The rulebook order is fixed" is the part I gotta push back on. I get where you're coming from, but I've taught Root to a bunch of folks and the vagabond's turn is actually more like a menu than a strict checklist. Sure, the steps are listed in a certain order in the book, but most people at my table treat 'move' and 'battle' as two separate actions you can swap around, as long as you don't do the same one twice. The real rule is you can't attack twice or move twice in one turn, not that you have to do them in a set sequence. The book's order is just there to show you what options exist, not to lock you in. I'd double check the actual wording in the rulebook again, because I swear the Leder Games folks confirmed this in a forum post way back. We've played dozens of games with the swap and it never broke anything.

Ha, fair enough! I've seen this argued both ways online, honestly.
