PSA: The time my game night almost ended in tears because of a broken token tray

I was hosting a big game of Scythe at my place in Austin last Friday, and halfway through setup one of the resource token trays just snapped in half. Tokens went flying everywhere under the couch and table. I grabbed a cheap muffin tin from my kitchen and used it to sort everything instead. Has anyone else had to jury-rig a solution like that mid-game?

Could not believe you broke a token tray during Scythe of all games. Those trays are usually pretty sturdy plastic but I guess the Texas heat might have made it brittle. I had a similar disaster once with a Splendor chip tray that cracked right down the middle and I ended up using plastic cupcake liners to sort the gems. The muffin tin was a smart move though, keeps everything visible and nobody has to dig through a pile of tokens.

Those plastic cupcake liners actually make fantastic organizers for all sorts of small stuff around the house, not just board games.
