My friend's dice tower advice made our 2-hour game take 4

Last month, my buddy Rick swore a fancy dice tower would speed up our Warhammer games. He said the dice would roll faster and settle quicker, so we'd save time over the night. We spent $60 on a wooden tower with velvet lining, and it looked awesome. But every throw took twice as long because the dice kept bouncing out or landing sideways. We finished one match in 4 hours instead of our usual 2, and Rick blamed the tower's design, not his advice. Anyone else get sold on a gimmick that backfired during a game night?

Rick's a good friend for wanting to speed things up, but that tower sounds like a trap. Had a similar deal with a fancy dice tray that had little bumpers on the sides. Dice would hit the bumper, flip over, and give us bad rolls that took forever to settle. We went back to rolling on a folded towel in about ten minutes. It didn't look as cool, but it cut our game time by a third. Sometimes the plain old way is the fastest way. Sounds like Rick needs to eat that sixty bucks and call it a lesson.
