I hit 500 logged plays on BoardGameGeek and it felt hollow

I finally crossed that milestone after three years of tracking everything, from filler card games to six-hour heavy sessions. But instead of feeling accomplished, I realized half those plays were just me forcing games to the table that nobody else really wanted to play. Has anyone else hit a number and wondered if you were just collecting stats instead of having fun?

My peak was 437 and yeah, I hit the same wall. I started leaving games in shrink wrap unless someone actually asked to play them, and that cut my logged plays by like 60% but I actually started having fun again. The stats don't mean anything if you're not enjoying the table time, so try just playing what you're excited about for a month and see if the numbers matter less.

Oh @the_tessa, you're speaking my language. I once got so obsessed with hitting a yearly play count that I unironically played a solo game of Uno with my cat just to log something. Spoiler: my cat lost interest after three rounds and I still counted it. I think my peak was around 400 logged plays and I was miserable by the end. Now I just pick games that actually look fun, even if it means my "collection" is mostly dust collectors. My shelving unit judges me daily, but at least I'm having fun now.

Wait, are you telling me I'm not the only one who's logged a cat game?
