I finally had a board game night crash and burn

I set up a 6-player game of Diplomacy at my apartment in Portland last Friday, spent an hour explaining the rules, and then two people started arguing over a treaty within the first 20 minutes. One guy flipped the board and walked out, and the other just sat there staring at the wall for another 10 minutes before leaving. How do you handle it when a game night goes completely south like that?

My brother once told me a similar story but it ended with him locking his keys in the car while the engine was still running. That was a whole different kind of Tuesday chaos involving a coat hanger and a very patient tow truck driver. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes the universe just has a weird sense of humor about these things.
