Honestly, I'm tired of hearing 'board games are for kids' at my local cafe in Springfield.

I was setting up a game of Terraforming Mars there yesterday and a guy at the next table said it looked like 'fancy Monopoly for adults'. Ngl, that's a huge misunderstanding of modern game design and complexity. What's the most frustrating thing you've heard someone get wrong about our hobby?

Right? My friend said my copy of Terraforming Mars was just "spreadsheets with cards." It's the engine building that makes it fun, not the pieces.

Got told my copy of Twilight Struggle was just "Risk with more words." That's like calling chess "checkers with extra steps." The whole point is the hidden information and card driven mechanics, not moving little plastic armies.
