Found a 1982 score sheet from a D&D tournament in a thrift store
I was digging through a box of old papers at a Salvation Army in Portland last weekend and pulled out a Gen Con score sheet from 1982. The player had a 14 strength and rolled a 3 on a saving throw against poison. It got me thinking about how different the hobby was back then compared to now with all these apps and fancy components. Anybody else stumble across random old game stuff in weird places?

Hang on, a 3 on a saving throw in 1982? Are you sure that's right? Back then you needed to roll under your score for a save, so a 3 would actually be a success against a lot of poisons. I remember my old DM had to keep reminding us that low rolls were good back then, it was confusing.

Read somewhere that old-school D&D saves were basically inverted compared to now, weird but true.
