Broke a game piece right before game night and had to improvise fast

Last Saturday at my buddy Dave's apartment, we were about to start a 4-player session of our favorite deck builder and I dropped the main scoring token on the tile floor. It snapped clean in two, right through the middle number. Everyone just stared at me like I ruined the whole night. I grabbed a dry erase marker and a scrap piece of cardboard from his recycling bin, drew a quick replica with the same number on it, and covered it with packing tape so it wouldn't smudge. We played three rounds and that cardboard piece actually held up better than the original plastic one. Has anyone else had to MacGyver a game component mid-session?

Oh man that's genius with the packing tape, I had to do something similar once with a tiny scoring wheel from an old game that just wouldn't stay put. Ended up cutting a circle from a beer box and using a paperclip as the spinner arm, worked way better than the original flimsy plastic thing actually.

Ha, that beer box circle trick is solid. I actually saw a video last week where someone used a bottle cap and a toothpick for the same kind of thing, and it spun way smoother than the real parts. @kim963 you're definitely onto something there, the flimsy plastic stuff is always the first thing to break. Paperclips are lowkey the best fix-it tool ever though, I keep a stash in my junk drawer just for this kinda weird repair stuff.
