Back in 2018 I had to pick between Gloomhaven and Kingdom Death Monster
I was standing in my local game shop in Austin staring at these two massive boxes. Gloomhaven was $140 and Kingdom Death was $400 and I only had cash for one. I went with Gloomhaven because I figured I'd actually get it to the table more often. Three years later I've played through maybe half the campaign with my group but Kingdom Death is still sitting in my head as this unicorn I never got to try. Has anyone else had to make this kind of wallet-breaking call between two big box games?

it stare at you from a shelf for eternity" really got me, because it's like any big dream you chase in life you gotta weigh the cost of actually doing it versus just dreaming about it.

Oh man, that's rough. You basically picked the ultimate "let's buy this game and never finish it" vs. the "let's buy this game and have it stare at you from a shelf for eternity" dilemma. I mean, at least with Gloomhaven you got some use out of it, right? Kingdom Death is more like a $400 doorstop you can also build miniatures for, except you'll probably chicken out on the scary bits anyway.

Isn't it just a board game though, like why are we acting like this is some major life decision.
