That 'lifetime warranty' tool set cost me $150 in replacements

Ngl, my dad always told me to buy cheap tools because 'they all do the same thing.' Well, I bought a socket set from a discount store for $30 three years ago. The ratchet stripped out on a brake job last month and I had to buy a whole new set plus a tow truck to get my car off the jack stands. Has anyone else been burned by a 'bargain' tool that ended up costing way more?

Buddy of mine snapped a cheap breaker bar and it almost took his front teeth out.

Didn't your buddy know you're supposed to keep your face behind the breaker bar, not in front of it? I had a cheap socket shatter on me once and it basically turned into a surprise shotgun shell, flying past my ear. Makes you wonder if buying the expensive stuff is cheaper than dental work in the long run.
