Spent $400 on a premium firewood processor and it paid off in one season

My dad always insisted on splitting wood by hand like some kind of pioneer, but after three weekends of wrecking my back I rented a small $400 hydraulic splitter from the local equipment place. Best money I ever spent on a one-time job, anyone else cave and buy a tool your old man insisted you didn't need?

Has anyone checked if those fancy processors actually damage the wood fibers for burning?

Got a buddy named Tom who swore by hand splitting until he helped ME move a cord of green oak one weekend. He hobbled around for two days complaining about his lower back, then went out and bought the SAME $400 splitter the very next week. @ruby_rivera76 I remember him mentioning something about worrying it would crush the fibers, but honestly he said his fires burned hotter and longer after using that machine. Now his dad borrows the splitter every fall and pretends he always wanted one.
