PSA: My mom's 'lie to get ahead' advice backfired hard at my job interview in Phoenix

I was 22 and my mom told me to pad my resume with skills I didn't have, said everyone does it. So I claimed I knew Salesforce at this interview for a marketing gig in Phoenix. The hiring manager asked me to log in and run a report right there, and I froze for 5 minutes before admitting I lied. Has anyone else had a parent's 'harmless' lie blow up in your face like that?

It's funny how parents tell you to lie like it's no big deal but the real world runs on trust.

Isn't it wild how trust is harder to rebuild than it is to lose?
