My mom threw out my comic books, so I hid everything I cared about in a vent for 12 years
When I was 11, my mom tossed my whole comic book box while I was at school because she said they were rotting my brain, and I never really trusted her with my stuff again. So I started hiding anything that mattered to me, first in a shoebox under my bed, then in a loose floorboard, and eventually in the cold air return in my closet where I kept 14 sketchbooks nobody ever found. Did anyone else's parents pull the "I'm helping you" thing that just made you sneakier?
My dad did the same thing with my magic cards, said they were a waste of money so he sold them at a garage sale. After that I started keeping my good stuff in an old backpack I carried everywhere, even to the bathroom sometimes. Later I moved it all to a tackle box in the garage because he never went near my fishing gear. The trick for me was hiding stuff somewhere that made sense for me to be messing with anyway. Nobody questions a box of lures if you actually fish. Sorry your mom did that to you at 11, that's rough.
