Warning: That antique anvil at the flea market was not a steal.

I found this old anvil at a flea market outside Nashville last weekend, looked like it had been sitting there for years. The guy said it was a 150 pound Peter Wright from the 1800s and I got it for 80 bucks, felt like a genius. Got it home and started cleaning off the rust, noticed the markings looked kinda off. After about an hour with a wire brush, I realized it was a cheap cast iron replica with lead painted in the base to weigh it down. I practically threw my back out lugging that thing into my truck for nothing. Now I'm out 80 bucks and my truck smells like lead paint fumes. Has anyone else fallen for a fake anvil at a market?

wait so you had to haul that thing around and it was basically trash the whole time? be honest, how mad were you when you figured out the lead thing? cause i wouldve been throwing stuff around my garage for like an hour lol. but seriously, did the seller give you any kind of warranty or was it just a shady cash deal? i feel like if a guy is selling fake antiques, he probably has a pattern of doing it. maybe you could warn others on a local facebook group or something, cause thats a pretty dirty trick to pull on someone.
