Warning: My boss at the forge is ruining good metal with haste.
He demands quick jobs, but the finishes are terrible. What's your move when quality takes a back seat?

Rush jobs ruin everything. Man, that's brutal! I've seen guys rush a weld and it cracks in a week. Or they skip the proper tempering and the blade holds an edge like butter. Once you lose that trust in the craft, what's even the point? Short cuts just mean more come-backs and angry customers.

Yeah, the part about cracks in a week hits home. I once rushed a simple gate hinge because I was behind, and it gave out in like, three days. My own darn dog pushed it open and ran down the street. So now I'm that customer coming back angry at myself. It's a hard lesson that doing it fast just means doing it twice. I'd rather explain the wait to a client than have to look them in the eye after a failure.
