That afternoon a hammer head flew off and hit my leg in the forge

I was at my forge in Des Moines last Tuesday, working on a 2-inch railroad spike when the head of my old Stanley hammer just detached mid-swing. The head hit me right above the knee, left a nasty purple bruise that's still fading. Lesson learned: check your handle wedges every month. Anybody else have a tool failure that scared them straight?

Replace that wedge TODAY before you swing again.

My buddy had a chainsaw kick back and bury itself in his boot, took two hours to get him out.
