Spent $110 on a pyrometer after 3 months of eyeballing steel color and I feel like a fool for waiting
My 1084 blades stopped coming out too soft once I could actually read the temp instead of guessing by the shade of orange, so what are you all using to check heat without dropping real cash?
Man, this is just like when I finally bought a real level after years of eyeballing shelves and wondering why everything looked off. You don't know how bad your guess is until you have something that actually tells you the truth. A $20 infrared gun gets you close enough for most shop stuff, but the cheap ones can be off by 50 degrees or more, so check it against something you know. Wild how much time and steel we waste trusting our eyes.
