Showerthought: I read that a typical 19th century blacksmith used about a ton of coal a week

Found that stat in a book on industrial history at the library. Makes you realize how much fuel we go through now with propane, right? What's your monthly fuel cost look like these days?

That "ton of coal a week" stat is wild. My monthly propane bill for home heating last winter was brutal, over three hundred bucks some months. It really does make you feel stuck when fuel costs spike. Feels like you're just burning money to stay warm.
