Shoutout to the old timer at the Tacoma hammer-in who told me to try a straight peen for drawing out
I was using a cross peen for everything, but after switching I cut my time on a 2 foot scroll by half. Anyone else have a simple tool change that made a huge difference?

That straight peen trick is a game changer! I had a similar moment when a farrier showed me how to use a rounding hammer for shaping instead of my old ball peen. The different face just moves metal so much faster on curves. It's wild how the right tool for the job can feel like cheating.

Actually, a rounding hammer is what farriers use. A straight peen is more for blacksmiths drawing out metal. The rounding face is great for curves, but it's a different tool for a different task.

Ever feel like you've been using a spoon to dig a hole when there's a shovel right next to you? That's me with my old hammer choices.
