Old timer told me I was hammering too cold, finally listened

Had a guy watch me work for 5 minutes at a demo last fall and said I was hammering below critical temp on some scrolls. Turns out he was right, my cracks dropped by half after I started pulling it back to the forge sooner. Anyone else get a tip like that that slapped you in the face?

Nah, I've seen guys overheat thin stock way more often than work it too cold.

I don't know man, it's just thin stock, how bad can a little extra heat really mess it up...
