Noticed a shift in how people are treating their anvils
I was at a swap meet in Ohio last weekend and overheard a guy say he uses WD-40 on his anvil face before every session to "prevent rust and make the metal slide better." That struck me as odd because I always thought a little surface rust on the face is fine and oil just makes things slick in a bad way. Has anyone else run into folks using lubes or sprays on their anvil face on purpose?

Right? Saw a guy spray his anvil with PAM cooking spray once.

@blake322 must have been trying to save on rust removal. I've seen guys spray their hammers with cooking spray too, but the real show is when they try to season the anvil like a cast iron skillet. Probably thought it would make the metal slide smoother.
