I wasted $250 on a fancy anvil stand kit

Picked up one of those pre-made anvil stands with the rubber isolation pads last spring. Looked real nice on the website but after three days of hammering the whole thing wobbled like crazy. I ended up just bolting a section of railroad track to a stump I found behind my barn for free. Has anyone else had bad luck with those bolt-together stands or is it just me?

Read a blog post from a farrier last month who said those bolt-together stands shift around because the joints are never tight enough for real work. He mentioned that @simons28 is right - at that price you expect something solid, not a wobbly mess. My neighbor tried one and ended up welding the whole thing together just to get it stable, which kind of defeats the purpose of buying it pre-made.

Paid 250 bucks for something that wobbled after three days? That hurts to even read.

Man, 250 bucks and it wobbles after three days? That's not a product, that's a magic trick making your money disappear. I've had cheaper stuff from the hardware store last longer than that. At that price point it should be built like a tank, not a cheap folding chair from a yard sale. You basically paid for a lesson in why you should never trust flashy packaging over actual quality. Hope you at least got a good laugh out of it before it started dancing on its own.
