I thought those new ceramic forge linings were just a gimmick for a while.

But after seeing one hold 2400 degrees for a full 8-hour shift at a friend's shop, I'm sold. Anyone else switch over and notice a real difference in fuel use?

That "8-hour shift" thing is wild. My buddy Mike runs a small blade shop and he was super skeptical too. He finally tried one last winter and called me all excited. He said his usual propane tank used to last maybe two days of heavy forging, but with the new lining he got almost four days out of one. The heat just stays in the chamber so much better, he barely has to touch the regulator.

No kidding, I saw a video where a guy tested the heat loss and it was way lower. @the_jenny's buddy Mike isn't the only one seeing those propane savings for sure.

My old forge would eat a 20lb propane tank in a weekend easy. After switching to a ceramic lined one last fall, that same tank lasts me almost two weeks with regular use. It's crazy how much less gas I'm buying now. I totally get what @nathana48 was saying about the heat loss, it just doesn't bleed out the sides anymore. My shop stays way cooler too, which is a nice bonus in the summer.
