Why does nobody talk about how slow the middle seasons of The Walking Dead are?
I see everyone raving about the early seasons and the later revival, but I finally got around to watching seasons 5 through 7 last month and I was bored out of my mind. I mean, there were whole episodes at the prison where literally nothing happened except people talking about feelings. I actually fell asleep three times during the season 6 premiere. I ended up skipping every scene with that one character just to get through it. Has anyone else just fast-forwarded through big chunks of that show to get to the good parts?

Did you ever try counting the number of times someone says "walkers" in one episode to stay awake?

You make a good point @taylor_young about trying different games to stay awake, but I see it differently. For me the show is already intense enough without needing extra distractions. I actually find that focusing on the story and characters keeps me more engaged than counting lines. The word "walkers" gets said a LOT though, like probably a hundred times per episode. If I tried counting every single time someone yelled "walkers" I would go cross-eyed before the first commercial break.

Ruby, have you ever actually counted how many times they say it in one sitting? I tried once with season 4 and gave up after 20 minutes because it was like every other line. Do you think the writers just have a bingo card for walker mentions at this point?
