Warning: my boss called my "prestige drama" picks homework, so I switched to 22 minute comedies and now I finish a season in two nights
He said if I have to take notes to follow the plot, it is not a binge, it is a chore, so what are your best half hour shows that still hook you hard enough to keep going past midnight?

Your boss is dead wrong on this one. Shows like The Bear or Severance are 30 to 60 minutes and hit way harder than any sitcom, and you actually care what happens next. Half hour comedies can be great but most of them are just background noise you forget by morning, nobody's staying up till 2am because of yet another workplace gag. The whole point of a binge is getting pulled in so deep you lose track of time, and 22 minute shows are built to reset, not to hook. A little note taking never killed anybody either, some of us actually like paying attention.
