Vent: my buddy said my character arc was a mess and I didn't believe him until episode 8
He told me the whole season felt like three different shows glued together, and now I can't unsee how the main guy just drops his whole backstory halfway through without any payoff... anyone else have a friend who ruined a series for them with one comment?

Give them a clean heads up right away, saying something like "hey I need to talk about our money situation tomorrow." From my experience, letting stuff like this slide even a few days just makes the conversation way more awkward. Better to get it over with quickly and move on.

Thing that nobody talks about is maybe that friend was right and that's actually okay. I had a buddy tell me my favorite movie's third act was a total cheat and at first I was mad but then realized he helped me see it for what it was. Sometimes the messy arcs hit harder because they're honest about how life doesn't wrap up neat, but it stings when someone points out the seams and you can't unsee them. You might end up appreciating the show more for what it tried to do even if it failed, just gotta let the initial burn wear off.
