That time I embarrassed myself binge-watching with my boyfriend's family
Last weekend, I was at my boyfriend's house for a family dinner. After eating, we all sat down to watch a new thriller series. In a super serious scene, I misheard a line and cracked up laughing. The room went silent, and his mom gave me this look. Now I'm wondering if I should just stick to watching shows alone, you know?

Last year I snorted soda during a tense moment in a crime show because I thought the detective said 'we found the duck' instead of 'duct tape'. I mean, those family watch sessions are basically a test of your poker face. His mom's look probably could have frozen the whole room solid. Idk, maybe just own it and blame it on bad audio next time.

Once I choked on popcorn because a character said 'baseball bat' and I heard 'space whale'. The confusion was REAL. My family just stared while I turned purple. Your soda story is a whole mood. I've decided TV subtitles are a NECESSITY for survival. Misheard lines are the secret comedy track of family movie nights.

Honestly, the "test of your poker face" thing is a bit much. It's just a TV show. People laugh at the wrong time sometimes, it's not a big deal. His mom probably just got startled, not actually mad. Tbh if a family judges you that hard for a small laugh, maybe they need to relax a bit.
