Showerthought: I was watching 'Severance' and completely missed the point of the opening credits

I was on my third episode, scrolling on my phone during the intro, when my friend in Chicago texted 'did you see the hidden frames in the title sequence?' I went back and paused it, and there were all these clues about the plot I'd been skipping. How many other shows have I been half-watching and missing cool details like that?

What's the point of hunting for hidden frames if the show itself is good? You're basically saying the main story isn't enough to hold your attention. If a show needs secret clues in the credits to be interesting, maybe it's not that well written. Spending all that time pausing and squinting at title cards sounds like a chore, not fun. I watch shows to relax, not to do homework.

Used to feel exactly the same way tbh, but diving into the hidden lore in shows like Westworld actually made me appreciate the main story more. It's like finding easter eggs in a game, adds another layer without taking anything away.

Westworld's intro hides secret messages too.
