Shoutout to my buddy Dave for calling me out on my TV show snobbery

I was at a BBQ last weekend and Dave said I always talk down about shows that aren't prestige dramas. He pointed out I skipped this whole comedy series because I thought it was too light. Has anyone else had a friend make them feel like a jerk about their viewing habits?

Of course Dave had to go and hold up a mirror like that, I swear friends are just unpaid therapists with better barbecue access. Honestly though, if he caught me skipping a whole comedy just because it wasn't "important" enough, I probably deserved the callout. At the end of the day, a good show is a good show whether it's deep or just makes you laugh, but I'll still side-eye my own snobbery a little.

That thing about "unpaid therapists with better barbecue access" is spot on. Dave might have been blunt but he probably saved you from a year of missing out on a show you'd actually like. I've had that same mirror held up to me and it stings for about 20 minutes before you realize your friend was right.
