She said it was all filler with a side plot that goes nowhere, and after watching the rest without it, the pacing felt way tighter and I didn't miss a thing, has anyone else tried skipping episodes to save time?

Wait, did you actually skip it and not feel lost later? I did something similar with a show about a drug cartel. I heard episode 4 was just a boring flashback so I skipped it. Honestly, the whole season made more sense without that detour. Sometimes shows just have weak spots you can totally ditch.
