My friend in Seattle said 'The Bear' was just a show about a kitchen, and I had to set him straight.

We were grabbing coffee last Tuesday and he said he skipped it because it sounded like a boring cooking show. I told him he was missing out on one of the most stressful and real shows I've ever seen. I made him watch the first two episodes right there on my phone. After the 'system' monologue in episode one, he was totally hooked. He texted me the next day saying he finished the whole first season in a single night. Has anyone else had to convince a friend to give a show a real shot?

People often judge shows by their simple descriptions.

My buddy thought it was just another food show until I made him watch the panic attack scene. He binged the whole thing the next day.

Totally been there. My sister swore up and down that Succession was just "rich people yelling at each other over money" and couldn't get past the first ten minutes. I finally sat her down and played the "which one of these is not a real Logan Roy quote" game from that one YouTube video. She watched the whole first season in three days and now she has a whole ranking of the siblings on her fridge. It's wild how a quick scene or a little context can flip someone's whole opinion.
